Mexican city opts for solar powered parking payment
The city of San Pedro Cholula in Mexico has installed new Metric Elite LS parking across the city, the first time drivers have been charged for on-street parking, with the scheme part of the municipality’s urban mobility strategy. The paid parking zones will mainly be in commercial and tourist areas of the city. The solar powered parking machines are coin-only and include a 40-way key pad to capture vehicle registration plate details.

Keolis to operate ‘comprehensive mobility’ system in Dijon
The Greater Dijon region in France has awarded public transport operator Keolis a ’comprehensive mobility’ contract covering the management of all transport services in the region. Keolis will continue to operate the region’s transport network, Divia, for a further six years until 2022. Pay by phone parking launched in Toronto
The Toronto Parking Authority has launched its Green P Mobile App payment option across all Toronto streets, enabling customers to pay for parking via their smartphone. The app also delivers reminders before parking sessions expire and gives customers the ability to extend their parking sessions remotely. Videalert automates rising bollards at UK university
A Videalert CCTV-based ANPR system has been installed at the University of Hertfordshire to control rising bollards at two main entrances to the De Havilland Campus at Hatfield. Parkopedia to provide Audi China with in-car parking service
Parking service provider Parkopedia is to provide Audi Chinas with its premium in-car 'Parking Info' Audi connect service. Audi deploys smart parking
The Audi factory in Ingolstadt, Germany has deployed a smart parking system developed by Spanish company Urbiotica in a bid to optimise parking and reduce congestion in its 5,000-space car employee car park. The system utilises 22 U-Flow wireless parking sensors installed at the car park entrances and exits. These detect vehicles entering and leaving each parking sector and display occupancy data on information panels in real time, guiding drivers to free spaces and reducing congestion.

Designa to install new parking and access control at four New York airports
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) has awarded a contract to DESIGNA Access Corporation to install new vehicular parking and access control systems at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, LaGuardia Airport and Stewart International Airport. This contract is in excess of US$70 million and will use Designa’s Abacus technology which has been installed at numerous international airports.
