Gemalto partners with Valeo on virtual car keys

Digital security supplier Gemalto and automotive supplier Valeo have developed a virtual key solution enabling drivers to lock, unlock and even park their car via a smartphone. The solution can also provide access to real-time data (location, fuel levels and maintenance information) through Valeo’s In-Blue smartphone app.

Developed by Magenta Technology, the solution allows passengers to book a cab from a respected operator with confidence. GenApi 3.0 reference implementation released

The GenICam standard group has released GenApi 3.0, a new version of the reference implementation to the GenICam standard. This is a complete re-implementation and has similar advantages to the previous version. GenApi 3.0 enables loading and interpretation of the camera description file several times faster and has a much smaller memory footprint than the previous version. In addition, more platforms are now supported, in particular the ARM architecture.
TomTom upgrades TomTom Traffic

TomTom has announced a range of enhancements to its Traffic service, benefiting drivers and organisations who have licensing agreements with the company. The enhancements include turn-dependent jam information, which detects the different ‘turn dependent’ traffic situations at junctions and enables the navigation system to take into account jams specific to the driver’s turn intention on their specific route; dynamic speed limit messages, which will automatically monitor highways with variable speed signs.

Stalker Radar claims its new Stationary Speed Sensor II’s narrow (6°) beam is lane specific and can accurately detect and track up to ten vehicles in a single lane at distances of up to 400 meters. The 6° x 26° sensor is small size and light weight with a broad operating temperature and low power consumption, allowing it to be used in a range of environments and applications, while its target recognition/filtering settings enable it to adapt to any type vehicle or road condition.
