Study shows curve warning systems ‘reduce crashes’
A study by the US Federal Highway Administration’s Highways for Life has found a small but consistent reductions in mean and 85 percentile speeds on dangerous bends through the use of Tapco’s BlinkerChevron dynamic curve warning and guidance system (DCWGS) instead of static warning signs. Italian company Meccanica Fadini, a specialist in bollards, gate automation and barriers for perimeter security, will launch its new Talos bollard at Intertraffic Amsterdam. The presence of a quick release junction connector improves security standards, facilitating and speeding up electrical connections and making the device quick and easy to install and service.

Flow traffic monitoring and floating car data combine for urban mobility
Belgian company Flow will use Intertraffic Amsterdam to showcase some compelling new features on its Flowcontrol traffic management platform. The company claims it is the world’s first traffic optimisation solution where both sensor- based traffic monitoring and floating car data operate seamlessly. Flow says the platform addresses many of today’s urban mobility needs, such as parking guidance; traffic management during roadworks or events; as well as bike or pedestrian counting.

Metrocount’s mobile cycle counting delivers accurate volume and speed
In late 2015 MetroCount released its second bike counter, the MC5620. Building on the successes of the world-renowned MC5600 portable vehicle traffic counter, as visitors to the company’s stand at Intertraffic Amsterdam will see, the MC5620 has now been refined to achieve the highest degree of sensitivity required for detecting bicycle tyres. The company says this system has been proven to detect cyclists with 99% accuracy in video tests conducted in real-life conditions.

WiseCow wireless magneto delivers real time vehicle detection and flow data
French company Hikob will be presenting the Wise Cow device, a new generation of wireless magneto resistive sensor node. It can be placed between the road pavement in a few minutes and communicates real-time information on vehicle detection and flows. The device can be configured in a dynamic or in a static detection mode for traffic or parking applications. It can also measure the road surface temperatures which is useful in the winter service decision-making process.
