Teledyne Dalsa (TD) and Teledyne Optech (TO) will showcase their latest imaging solutions for intelligent transportation systems in live demonstrations at ITS Word Congress 2017 in Montréal, Canada. TD will be displaying the Genie Nano with resolutions from VGA to 25 megapixels that offer range in sensor size and image quality with more than 40 colour and monochrome models. It will have a live demonstration, and its multi-exposure feature is useful for red light camera and license plate capture.

Kapsch TrafficCom North America has announced that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has ruled in final form in favour of them in a legal motion brought by Neuology, Inc. The ruling of the full Commission is in response to Neology’s request for reconsideration of the ITC judge’s initial decision that Kapsch does not violate any patent assertions by importing electronic tolling products using the ISO/IEC 18000-6C communications protocol (6C Standard).

Indra has been awarded a contract from Highways England (HE) to install a Tunnel Management Control System (TMCS) for its tunnel estate as part of a project that foresees the option of implementing the solution in all 13 tunnels managed by HE for €10 million (£8,900,00).

Up to 12 million driving license holders receive a penalty notice each year – the equivalent of one every 2.5 seconds; meaning as many as a third (30%) of Britain's 40 million drivers now receive a penalty notice annually. 74% of firms doubt infrastructure will improve over this Parliament and 76% the public doubt any improvement will occur, according to the CBI/AECOM Infrastructure survey 2017. The findings show that both business and the public are concerned about the pace of delivery and a record number of firms are dissatisfied with the state of infrastructure in the region. The report showed that 96% of the 727 businesses surveyed see infrastructure as important to the government’s agenda and 55% view it as critical.

LG Electronics has announced a partnership with Qualcomm to develop a range connected car solutions as well as establishing a joint research centre in South Korea to develop 5G for vehicle and Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) technologies for the next generation of autonomous vehicles. Both companies will bring R&D experience to the partnership, including knowledge of 5G mobile technology and an understanding of its importance in the deployment of a fully connected car platform.

Medium sized oil company Allguth has teamed up with technology company The Linde Group (LG) and opened a hydrogen (H2) filling station for fuel-cell vehicles in Munich’s Trudering district, Germany. The Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) supported the construction of the facility with €400,000 (£356,000) from its National Innovation Programme for Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology (NIP) and it will be operated by the infrastructure partner H2 Mobility.

Lauchlan McIntosh, member of the Order of Australia (AM), will receive The Max Lay Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s ITS Australia National Awards ceremony, held at The Pavillion Arts Centre Melbourne, 23 November 2017. Reading Borough Council and its partner NSL, who manages parking services across the area, has installed 79 new Parkeon Strada terminals to improve parking availability in and around the town centre. The solar-powered coin-only terminals are located on-street locations around the town centre, and close the Royal Berkshire Hospital and the town’s University. They are linked to Parkeon’s Smartfolio central management system, which allows the council to monitor the terminals remotely and obtain an analysis

To combat thousands of premature deaths caused by air pollution in London, up to 34, 000 polluting vehicles travelling into Central London every month may have to pay the T-Charge £10.00 ($13.00) which will operate on top of the Congestion Charge £11.50 ($15.00). Launched by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, the T -Charge applies to drivers of pre-Euro 4 vehicles that do not meet the PM and NOx emissions and has come into effect from 7.00am on 23 October 2017.

There are 43 road deaths across 31 participating European countries, according to the latest results by European Day Without A Road Death (Project Edward). The figures have been published by the European Traffic Police Network, Tispol. Findings also revealed that 16 countries had zero fatalities. The project aims to raise awareness of road safety issues and to draw attention to value of national and Europe-wide road safety targets.

The City of Del Rio, Texas and Faneuil Inc unveiled a new Toll Plaza and Toll Collection System (TCS) for the Del Rio International Bridge at a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The 620-meter long, four-lane bridge provides citizens with safe, efficient and the shortest crossing times when seeking entry into Mexico through Texas. A consortium led by TRL has been awarded £13.4 million ($10.1 million) of the UK government's £51 million ($38 million) Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) testbed funding to create a Smart Mobility Living Lab (SMLL) in Greenwich and nearby Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London. The funding is part of the £100 million ($75 million) UK CAV test bed competitive fund and is the first investment by government and industry through Meridian to develop a national CAV testing infrastructure.
