Delphi has signed an agreement to acquire nuTonomy (NT) for an upfront purchase valued $400 million (£303 million) and earn-outs totalling approximately $50 million (£37 million). It will accelerate Delphi's commercialization of autonomous driving (AD) and Automated Mobility on-Demand (AMoD) solutions for automakers and new mobility customers worldwide. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close before the end of the year.

To slash road causalities by 40% by 2020 and combat last year’s 8 tyre-related fatalities and 120 serious injuries, Highways England (HE) has revealed a series of initiatives to mark the end of the Tyre Safety month. The UK Government has announced fund valued £3.64 million ($4.79 million) to upgrade the traffic management technology and improve journey times across the North East Combined Authority area (NECA). The number of Fleet Management (FM) systems in active use is forecasted to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 15.7% from almost 0.7 million units in 2016 to 1.4 million by 2021. The findings come from the latest report from Berg Insight: Fleet Management in Australia and New Zealand - 2nd edition, which also estimates that the penetration rate in the total population of non-privately-owned fleet vehicles used by businesses is estimated to increase from 14.8% in 2016 to 27.8% in 2021.

EVgo in collaboration with technology solutions provider Driivz have launched the EVgo Mobile app allowing drivers of electric vehicles (EVs) to locate the nearest charge point in a US network of 980 DC Fast chargers. It allows card-free charging that initiates with a single swipe to the right and enables drivers to check charger availability. The app is available for IOS and Android devices.

Cubic Transportation Systems (CTS) has been chosen for a contract valued, $539.5 million (£409.4 million) with additional options worth $33.9 million (£25.7 million), by the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to replace the MetroCard with a fare payment system similar to Transport for London (TfL). Siemens has been awarded a contract by Coventry City Council (CCC), through the National Productivity Investment Fund, to design and refurbish traffic signal equipment and systems at nine signalised junctions in the region. Hundreds of thousands of rail passengers will suffer hours of delays and cancellations this month as figures for oversized lorries hitting low bridges (bridge-strikes) peaked in October/ November to around ten reported incidents every day, according to a new campaign by Network Rail. In addition, there are 2,000 bridge strikes every year costing the taxpayer some £23 million ($30 million) in damages and delays.
