Denso expands R&D and collaboration with new Tokyo facility

ADLV and DVLA to implement GDPR changes for ADD service
The Association For Driving License Verification (ADLV) is working with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in the UK on implementing the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the Access To Drivers Data (ADD) service. It will hold discussions with fleet managers with the intention of helping to define the industry standard as well as provide members with an advisory document available early next year and online support.

Byton partners with Aurora to bring Level 4 AVs to market

Inrix ranks U.S. most congested developed country in the world
The U.S. is the most congested developed country in the world, with drivers spending an average of 41 hours a year in traffic during peak hours, costing them nearly $305bn (£220bn) in 2017, an average of $1,445 (£1,042) per driver. The findings come from Inrix’s annual Global Traffic Scorecard, which analysed 1,360 cities across 38 countries. ABI Research: DSRC above Cellular cheaper than implementing C-V2X
Implementing a Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) above cellular communications is expected to be $13.50 (£9.70) to $15 (£10) lower per Telematics Control Unit than implementing a Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) solution, according to US-based ABI Research’s analysis of vehicle to everything (V2X). It follows industry discussions which have compared DSRC and C-V2X as technology alternatives for enabling V2X in vehicles to help prevent accidents.

UK ITS professionals doubt driverless car timescales
Only one member of ITS (UK) thinks that level five driverless cars will be on the country’s roads by 2021, as suggested by chancellor Philip Hammond in the autumn budget. The results showed a near 50/50 split between those who expect fully driverless cars to be available within 15 years and those who think it will take longer to become widespread.

Papercast displays piloted in Tannheim to improve bus services
Papercast has deployed its e-paper passenger information bus stop displays in Tannheim, Austria, as part of a strategy to improve public transport service quality, by rolling out real-time service data to its passengers. Canada and Quebec invest in Laval’s public transit service

Fluor chosen for LA International Airport Automated People Mover
Fluor Corporation (Fluor) has been chosen to lead the design-build joint venture team to operate and maintain the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Automated People Mover project for the Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). ADAC and Door2Door launch Berlin shuttle service
