Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and ViaVan, a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz Vans and Via have launched a two-year project to create an on-demand ridesharing service in Berlin with routes that can be adapted by its passengers, in Spring 2018. The pilot aims to reduce congestion through deploying 50 Mercedes-Benz vehicles with plans to expand the fleet to 300. Public acceptance of the scheme will also be assessed. Each journey starts and ends at a virtual stop which is shared with other passengers.

Manufacturer of anti-ram vehicle barriers Gibraltar has supplied over 800 bollards to the Las Vegas Boulevard to protect pedestrians from errant vehicles. The solution is said to be able to withstand a 15,000 lbs (7.5 tons) medium-duty vehicle travelling at 50mph and has also been created to meet ASTM F2656-07 M50 P1 requirements. The Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association’s (CVMA’s) president Mark Nantais has stated that Quebec’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) regulations “may result in unintended consequences for consumers, automobile dealers, industry and ultimately, Quebec's economy,” in response to the new strategy introduced by the province’s government. The standard aims to increase the number of ZEVs in the region and to reduce greenhouse gas and other pollutant emissions. It will come into effect on the 11 January 2018.
