German company Traffic Data Systems says its OIML-R134-1 certified low- and high-speed weigh-in-motion system uses three rows of OIML-certified Lineas sensors and is a legally accepted WIM product for enforcement (WIM-E) and tolling applications (WIM-T) to be used on all kinds of roads. For heavy goods vehicles the system can cope with speeds between five to 120km/h while for light goods vehicles the upper limit is 140km/h. Qualcomm launches cellular V2X chipset for connected vehicles
Qualcomm Technologies’ 9150 C-V2X chipset, is a cellular, vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) commercial solution for autonomous driving. Goodyear unveils smart tyre for future urban fleets
Goodyear has unveiled its IntelliGrip Urban, a concept tyre designed for future-generation, autonomous, electric ride-sharing vehicles in urban areas. Traffic Data Systems receives Swiss certification for WIM system
Traffic Data Systems’ WIM-DSP 32 low-speed and high-speed weigh-in-motion (WIM) system has been awarded an OIML-R134-1 certificate by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology, proving accuracy levels of ±5% (initial verification) and ±10% (in-service inspection) have been achieved. The Swiss institute’s supervised certification process required more than 500 test runs with different vehicles, speeds and loads.

eBrake to stop distracted driving
Canadian company eBrake Technologies says its smartphone app is unlike any other as it automatically locks the device on which it is installed every time it detects vehicle-related motion. The company has just launched a pilot program with Canadian mobile network provider Telus. Once installed on either an Android and iOS smartphone, the eBrake app automatically blocks incoming notifications whenever motion is detected (by all modes from bicycle to airplane) without the need for in-vehicle hardware.

GTT Opticom Analytics aids intersection analysis
Opticom Analytics enables users of Global Traffic Technologies’ (GTT’s) GPS-enabled emergency vehicle pre-emption hardware to assess intersection performance, reveal problem areas and make corrections to provide a faster, safer emergency response. The web-based analytics platform collects data logs from the Opticom-equipped vehicles via a Wi-Fi or cellular connection and allows departments to view critical information about their department’s vehicles as they pass through an intersection.

Hikvision upgrades Darkfighter night surveillance
Hikvision has upgraded its Darkfighter night surveillance technology with the DarkfighterX series, which it claims can provide colourful, sharp images down to the light levels of 0.001 lux. DarkfighterX cameras take brightness information from an IR sensor and that from a visible light sensor for colour, and combine them to provide a bright full-colour image. The DarkfighterX series includes a PTZ and bullet cameras - both come with optical defog, 25X optical zoom, 2MP resolution and smart detection.
