The radar-based Bat-Box, from UK traffic and vehicle monitoring specialist Applied Traffic, is inconspicuous, easy to install, user-friendly and can be attached to existing street furniture. It detects and records the passage of vehicle and bicycles in a range of environments – including multi-lane highways, bi-directional traffic lanes, paths, lanes and cycle tracks.

Telegra has gone to unusual lengths to demonstrate the sealing of its Nextgen series of variable message signs – and has immersed a working panel in a water column on its stand. Sealed to IP67/MENA 6 standard, the panels use groups of three single-coloured LEDs with the light output shaped by a bespoke lens system to enable a wide gamut of colours to be displayed on the signs.

A segregated, mechanical three-position variable message sign able to display lane closures and other instructions is making its debut on the Triplesign stand. An electric motor turns the vertical triangular elements in the sign to display the required message and in the latest incarnation a set of three vertical elements depicts each lane of the road and can be individually controlled to indicate which lanes are open or closed.

The Lt365R USB 3.0 CCD camera from Lumenera runs at 53fps at full resolution or 66fps at an HDTV resolution of 1,920 x 1,088. It takes advantage of Lumenera’s memory buffer technology which ensures that frames are not lost while running the camera at the sensor’s maximum output. Edesix is showing a new version of its VideoBadge, which deters confrontations between the public and enforcement staff by filming incidents. The original VideoBadge, which is worn on the enforcement or police officer’s clothing, was introduced in 2011; by sliding down the front, the camera lens was exposed and started to record the scene, while a visible sign saying ‘recording in process’ was revealed. This frequently was enough to stop a verbal dispute developing into a physical one.
