Consortium wins US$648 million highway project
I-77 Mobility Partners, a consortium led by Cintra Infraestructuras, a subsidiary of Ferrovial, has finalised a US$648 million contract with the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The group will design and construct 26 miles of toll lanes on Interstate 77 in North Carolina.

China's RFID market value forecast to reach US$4.3 billion by 2025
According to a new report by IDTechEx, RFID in China 2015-2025, not only will the use of RFID in China become a US$4.3 billion market in 2025, but that figure will almost double if the value of tags and readers made in the country and exported elsewhere is included. Already in 2015 China had 85 per cent of the global manufacture capacity of RFID tags, with over 150 RFID companies operating in the country.

Göteborg congestion charge hailed a success
A new analysis of Göteborg's congestion pricing program suggests that it has been effective in cutting traffic congestion and contributed to more commuters taking public transport. The authors of the analysis, Maria Börjesson and Ida Kristoffersson, say that the examples of Göteborg and the Swedish capital Stockholm prove the advantages of road pricing for cities of varying size and density.

New Zealand entrepreneur to build country’s first fast-charging network
Founder and managing director of Charge.net.nz, Steve West, aims to build New Zealand’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging network. He claims to have identified 75 sites across the country and plans to have fast chargers installed on all of them by the end of 2017.

Q-Free wins major Australian tag order
Trondheim 26 May 2015: Q-Free has been awarded an order for its OBU610 tags from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) in Australia at a value of US$27 million. The compact and lightweight OBU610 easily attached to and removed from the windscreen using a slide-in bracket and supports all applicable 5.8GHz CEN DSRC protocols for the automatic registration, identification and fee collection from vehicles.

New traffic safety system at Dartford Crossing
From 13 June a new traffic safety system will be in use on the A282 (M25) northbound approach to the Dartford crossing tunnels.
