Denso to invest in truck platooning technology
Denso International America has entered into an investment agreement with Peloton Technology, which will help accelerate Peloton's development and deployment of platooning technology. The technology aims to increase fuel economy and improve safety for the global trucking industry. First EV fast charging points operational in France
Two electric vehicle (EV) charging points have gone into service as part of the Corri-Door project, which benefits from almost US$6.5 million funding under the EU TEN-T Programme. The aim of the Corri-Door project is to enable an interoperable fast charging network and foster rapid electric vehicle deployment in France and in Europe. ISS upgrades cycle detection software
Image Sensing Systems has released Autoscope software version 10.5.0, which includes the new Autoscope Cyclescope bicycle differentiation and detection feature. Cyclescope enhances cycle detection capability and adds the ability to differentiate between cycles and motorised vehicles as they approach a junction. A significant advantage to Cyclescope is that it doesn’t require additional roadway markings, product purchases or equipment installations or maintenance.

Fluor JV to build Texas expressway
A Fluor-led joint venture, Colorado River Constructors, a partnership with Balfour Beatty Infrastructure, has been awarded a four-year design-build contract by the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority to provide design and construction services valued at US$581 million for the Bergstrom Expressway Project located in Austin, Texas. Plug-in EV sales in North America ‘expected to exceed 1.1 million by 2024’
According to a new report from Navigant Research, North American plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) sales are expected to exceed 1.1 million annually by 2024. The report, Electric Vehicle Geographic Forecasts, analyses the North American market for light duty plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs), including detailed geographic forecasts of PEV sales by US state, metropolitan statistical area (MSA), Canadian province, Canadian city, and selected utility service area.

Rhode Island RhodeWorks plan opposed by ATA
Rhode Island government (RIDOT) has introduced its RhodeWorks plan, designed to address the state's crumbling transportation infrastructure. Rhode Island ranks 50th out of 50 states in overall bridge condition and has lost 1,200 in the construction sector over the past three months. New research assesses potential for driver-assistive truck platooning
The Phase One Final Report of the Driver-Assistive Truck Platooning (DATP) initiative was recently released by the research team. The DATP truck platooning research, which was funded by a grant from the US Department of Transportation's Exploratory Advanced Research program, utilises radar, vehicle-to-vehicle communications and video technologies to decrease over-the-road truck headways, with the objective of improving fuel economy without compromising safety.
