Luxembourg receives EU certification for automatic emergency call system

Luxembourg has become an eCall-certified EU member state following a delivery of Trabag Infrastructure & Safety Solutions' (SSISS) communication management platform to Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The GS3600 offers eCall functionality to emergency and fire response services which will be required in all new cars from 2018.
Greater Portland Transit district orders 11 buses from New Flyer

Greater Portland Transit District (Metro) has ordered five Xcelsior compressed natural gas (CNG) forty-foot, heavy-duty transit buses and six Xcelsior clean diesel forty-foot, heavy-duty transit buses from New Flyer of America. The transaction supports Metro's aged fleet replacement as well as a planned expansion of CNG buses in the City.

VTT and EEE Communications partner on black ice detector

EEE Innovations (EEE) and VTT Technical Research Centre (VTT) of Finland have launched a software-based solution that detects black ice which it claims can reduce fuel consumption by 20%. US and UK Respondents call for stricter data security regulations for Connected Cars

Over 40% of both 1,000 US and UK adult consumers who took part in a new study feel that the government should apply stricter data security regulations for connected cars (CCs), according to Thales’ E-Security IoT Survey. A combined 60% of both respondents believe that CCs pose security concerns with integrity and malfunctions at the top of the list of apprehensions when asked to identify internet-connected devices which they felt were most vulnerable to hacking.
InstaRyde launches ride service to benefit drivers and riders

InstaRyde (IR) has launched a ride-sharing service in Toronto which it claims will only take 99c from drivers and provide app users with a 20% reduction in charges as part of its aim to create a community of ride-sharing enthusiasts.
