Automated valet parking demonstrations held in Greenwich

Siemens launches all-new passively safe traffic signal poles

Seimens has unveiled a new range of passively safe traffic signal poles that are designed with the intention of offering improved corrosion resistance, longer life and are said to be 50% lighter than equivalent steel poles. DRVR partners with Tata to revolutionize fleet network, Asia

FDOT coordinates with THEA on TAMPA connected vehicle pilot

Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 will provide over 40 video traffic detectors at 12 intersections to allow improved traffic signals to operate at Tampa’s Connected Vehicle Pilot. The project, launched by the Tampa-Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA), plans to use vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication to reduce travel times and make traffic flow smoother and safer in the region’s commercial business district (CBD).

European Commission: tighter rules for safer/cleaner cars

The European Commission (EC), European Parliament and the Council have reached a political agreement on the commission proposal from January 2016 to raise the quality level and independence of type-approval and testing before a car is placed on the market. It would enable the EC to be able to initiate EU-wide recalls and impose penalties on manufacturers or technical services of up to €30,000 (£26,000) per non-compliant car.
Addnode acquires InPort to provide logistics solutions

WSP wins Caltrans Excellence in Transportation Award 2017

Engineering Consultancy WSP won a Caltrans Excellence in Transportation Award 2017, following a partnership with the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and Scoop's app to develop a carpool program in the San Francisco Bay area, on behalf of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). Colorado governor announces Connected and Autonomous vehicles day

Colorado’s governor Jon Hickenlooper declared 4 December as Connected and Autonomous Vehicle Day following a visit with civic leaders and corporate executives to an autonomous vehicle (AV) technology demonstration at Panasonic’s Denver facility. Through a new partnership it plans to deploy AV technology next to the building, in Spring 2018. The event also featured EasyMile’s autonomous shuttle inaugural journey to Peña Station as well as the opening of its new North American headquarters.

The Call for Contributions are still open for the ITS World Congress 2018, in Copenhagen. Through ITS, it aims to find answers to climate, air pollution, urbanization, congestion, and traffic safety through its main theme Quality of Life. The deadline for the submission of papers is 15 December 2017. Next year’s event is expected to attract over 10,000 visitors, 4,000 delegates and 400 exhibitors and will be held in the Bella Center from 12-21 September 2018. Impark deploys hangtag at parking facilities, Canada

Imperial Parking Canada Corporation (Impark) has deployed its hangTag app at parking facilities which is said to allow parkers to locate facilities on a map, view lot details, get driving directions, and pay without going to the meter. It also provides an early notification when a session is about to expire, allowing users to extend time from their phone.
