Results from TISPOL's recent 24-hour speed enforcement marathon

Results from the recent TISPOL 24-hour speed enforcement marathon which took place on Thursday 21 April and Friday 22 April show that 22 countries were involved, 2,463,622 vehicles were checked and 122,508, or 4.97 per cent of vehicles checked, were speeding. Put another way, the results show that 19 out of every 20 drivers checked were within legal speed limits.
Crown International to supply variable-height masts for smart motorways

Crown International has been awarded a US$547,000 (£375,000) contract by Balfour Beatty to supply and install variable height dual unit enabled PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) masts, as part of the Smart Motorways project on the M5. The masts will be used between Junctions 2 and 4a and will be delivered in 2016. Forty-six PTZ 15 metre masts are to be installed along the M5. Each mast will be used to mount infrared equipment and lane monitoring cameras and has been designed for roadside maintenance by a single operative
France extends mobile speed enforcement

The French Ministry of the Interior plans to extend the country’s nationwide speed enforcement and has ordered an additional 100 enforcement trailers from Vitronic. The autonomous mobile Lidar-based systems utilise Vitronic's Poliscan speed technology and can operate autonomously for a minimum of five days. They will mainly be deployed on the French National Road network. Latvia says effectiveness of speed cameras impossible to deny
