IBTTA elects first VP
The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association's (IBTTA) has elected Tim Stewart, executive director of the E-470 Public Highway Authority to serve as its first vice president Stewart’s term begins on 1 January 2017; in 2018, Stewart will serve as IBTTA president. As the head of E-470, Stewart provides executive leadership and strategic guidance for all tolling initiatives. Stewart is responsible for the operations of the 47-mile toll road and also the ExpressToll brand, which provides tolling

IBTTA appoints second VP
Chris Tomlinson, executive director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority and State Road and Tollway Authority has been elected by the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) membership to serve as its second vice president. Tomlinson’s term begins on 1 January 2017; in 2019, Tomlinson will serve as IBTTA president.

Highway congestion drives support for tolls
Increasing congestion on US highways and roads is driving almost three in four (72 per cent) Americans to support using tolls to pay for critical or needed transportation infrastructure projects if there are insufficient funds from other sources, according to the latest America THINKS national public opinion survey by HNTB Corporation. The survey polled a random nationwide sample of 1,022 Americans between 21 and 28 July 2016.

Confidex’s new windscreen-mounted RFID toll tag, Xenon VIP, combines a high level crypto-mechanism on a state-of-the-art NXP chip and a thin, tamper-evident label structure. Johannesburg major cancels cycle lanes, stops chasing outstanding e-tolls

Alabama voters to vote on new toll authority
Voters in Baldwin County, Alabama, US, will be asked to approve a county toll authority in the November ballot, according to WKRG.
