Rating agency Standard and Poor Tolling sees a bright future for tolling
Few disruptions appear on the horizon for global toll road operators, with the US poised to become a better bet for major investment, according to ratings agency Standard and Poor’s (S&P’s) Global Ratings’ 2017 report, which rates toll road operators according to their ability to raise capital. The outlook is generally stable for business conditions and credit quality for toll roads worldwide. One positive exception is the US where the overall outlook is ‘positive’ as S&P expects traffic growth to increase

Louis Berger to design interstate road modernisation in India
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has selected Louis Berger to provide consultancy services for the preparation of detailed designs to upgrade around 7820 km of roads for two major road packages in southern India under the Bharatmala-Pariyojna scheme. The projects will include road widening and alignment; repaving; upgrades to intersections, bridges, bypasses and service roads; new toll plaza design; and improvements for more efficient traffic flow.

Open road, cashless tolling to begin on New York Grand Island Crossings

Q-Free wins ANPR tolling contract in US
Q-Free has signed a US$3.2 million (NOK 25 million) six and a half year contract with US tolling system integrator TransCore to provide operations and maintenance support for the recently-deployed Q-Free Intrada Insight image review solution on the Central Florida Expressway (CFX) project. Q-Free awarded toll tag contract in Russia
Q-Free has recently signed a three-year framework agreement to supply toll tags to Northern Capital Highway, a toll operator in St. Petersburg, Russia. The agreement has a total value of approximately US$1.4 million (NOK11 million) over the period. After nearly two years of planning, design and testing, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is now recruiting volunteer drivers and pedestrians for the Tampa Connected Vehicle (CV) Pilot. New York congestion pricing ‘an idea whose time has come’
New York Governor. Andrew M. Cuomo, who once doubted that congestion pricing would gain any traction in the state, is planning to resurrect the idea and will expend political capital to see it succeed, reports the New York Times.
