Star Systems announces new tolling antenna
Star Systems International announced the availability of Avior narrow beam tolling antenna, designed for over-the-road tolling for all electronic tolling systems using passive tags. Avoir allows system designers to create an optimal read zone in either multi-lane free flow / open road or a plaza-base tolling lane. STAR Systems claims Avoir maximises read rates and isolates tag identification and helps avoid cross-lane and stray transponder reads while mitigating adjacent lane interference.

Monetising time savings makes toll roads financially stack up, says research
Putting a financial value on the savings from traffic congestion, noise and air pollution as a result of toll roads and tunnels will make large infrastructure projects more cost effective, according to a new study by Australia’s Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Sae Chi, from the university’s Science and Engineering Faculty, has compared the financial and economic cost of public and privately operated toll roads and tunnels, and found the net impacts to the community should be taken into account

The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association's (IBTTA) has announced the election of the association’s president and second vice-president, who will both take office in January 2018. Tim Stewart, executive director of Colorado’s E-470 Public Highway Authority has been elected as the association’s incoming president. He has served as a member of the association’s Executive Committee for the past two years and on the Board of Directors for four years.

Philippines toll road companies move to interoperable toll collection

Rating agency Standard and Poor Tolling sees a bright future for tolling
Few disruptions appear on the horizon for global toll road operators, with the US poised to become a better bet for major investment, according to ratings agency Standard and Poor’s (S&P’s) Global Ratings’ 2017 report, which rates toll road operators according to their ability to raise capital. The outlook is generally stable for business conditions and credit quality for toll roads worldwide. Louis Berger to design interstate road modernisation in India
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has selected Louis Berger to provide consultancy services for the preparation of detailed designs to upgrade around 7820 km of roads for two major road packages in southern India under the Bharatmala-Pariyojna scheme. The projects will include road widening and alignment; repaving; upgrades to intersections, bridges, bypasses and service roads; new toll plaza design; and improvements for more efficient traffic flow.
