The China-Sweden Research Centre for Traffic Safety has been officially inaugurated in Beijing, attended by representatives of Volvo Cars and other research partners in the project, including Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Volvo Group, the Chinese Ministry of Transport's Research Institute of Highway and Tongji University in Shanghai. The new SmartWay app from the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) p will help drivers navigate Tennessee highways, providing up-to-the-minute customised traffic information. The home screen for the TDOT SmartWay App is a map, which will locate the user’s current position. Users will see icons on the left hand side of the map for traffic speeds, incidents, cameras, road construction, road conditions, and dynamic message signs. Map views can be customised by simply clicking on those icons.

Due to a significant number of requests for extension of the submission stage, Ertico-ITS Europe have extended the deadline for submission of papers and special interest session proposals to 14 January 2013. Many submissions have already been received, and this will be taken into account in the selection process. There are no changes to the associated dates for paper reviews (deadline 13 February) and authors will be given the decision on full or provisional acceptance no later than 28 February.

Washington’s District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has announced proposed locations for fifty-four new Capital Bikeshare (CaBi) stations to be installed this winter in the District of Columbia.
