9th ITS European congress and exhibition – deadline extended
Due to a significant number of requests for extension of the submission stage, Ertico-ITS Europe have extended the deadline for submission of papers and special interest session proposals to 14 January 2013. Many submissions have already been received, and this will be taken into account in the selection process. There are no changes to the associated dates for paper reviews (deadline 13 February) and authors will be given the decision on full or provisional acceptance no later than 28 February.

DDOT releases new Capital Bikeshare locations
Washington’s District Department of Transportation (DDOT) has announced proposed locations for fifty-four new Capital Bikeshare (CaBi) stations to be installed this winter in the District of Columbia. The list includes proposed new stations in all eight wards of the city. DDOT selected the locations from a longer list of suggested locations submitted by the public over the past two years. Consortium wins Polish ERTMS contract
Polish infrastructure manager PKP PLK has awarded a consortium of Bombardier (ZWUS) Poland, Thales Poland, and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) a $US153 million contract for the country's first commercial European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 2 installation. The project covers the 340km line E65 between Gdynia and Warsaw, which also forms the northern section of Pan-European Corridor VI from Gdynia to Katowice and Zilina in Slovakia. Econolite enhances ITS reach with expanded distributor agreement

Integrated passenger transport system for Luxembourg
Luxembourg’s integrated passenger transport system is to benefit from a new system for control, passenger information and electronic fare collection (e-ticketing). Init has been awarded a contract by the Luxembourg transport association to equip thirty-four private and three public transport companies with the system over the next three years. The contract also includes control centres and providing around 920 vehicles with hardware and software.

Imtech to provide technology for Antwerp’s new tram project
Technology supplier Royal Imtech (Imtech) has announced an agreement with the Flemish transport authority De Lijn for improvement of Antwerp’s sustainable public infrastructure. The Livan 1 Antwerp design, build, finance and maintain (DBFM) tram project will be implemented by a consortium called NV Livan Infrastructure comprising Lijninvest as a public shareholder and Poseidon Infrastructure (Imtech, Denys and Macquarie Capital Group) as a private partner. Dubai Police choose Vitronic enforcement
Dubai Police continues its road safety initiative by awarding a further contract to Vitronic for fixed traffic enforcement systems; the contract includes PoliScan speed enforcement, combined red light and speed enforcement systems as well as violation processing software. The stationary PoliScan speed systems monitor all vehicles in the surveillance zone equally, even if they are tailgating, changing lanes, driving in the vicinity of road works, tunnels or taking bends.
