ITS America, transportation leaders urge FCC to reject call for stay of safety spectrum
ITS America and other leaders in the intelligent transportation community have united to call on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to deny a request by Public Knowledge and the New America Foundation for an emergency stay on the use of dedicated short range communications in the 5.9GHz spectrum band. The petition was made in a joint FCC filing by the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and the Association of Global Automakers.

UK university projects shows wireless sensors could improve rail crossing safety
A study by rail experts at the University of Huddersfield in the UK has concluded that railway crossing safety could be improved by networks of tiny wireless sensors attached to the tracks. Beacon for transport innovation
Transport for New South Wales, Australia is looking to expand on its current trial of Bluetooth beacons at Chatswood Station and bus interchange in Sydney and calling for submissions around new ways to put Bluetooth technology to use to make catching public transport easier. New Zealand to trial mobile road weather data acquisition
From September 2016, MetService and the New Zealand Transport Agency will commence a road weather mobile data acquisition trial, in conjunction with road contractors Fulton Hogan and Downer. First trial of 4G LTE technology in a mass transit system
French public transport operator Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) and Nokia have successfully completed the first trial of 4G LTE technology on a portion of the Paris Metro line 14.
