Sensys awarded new Swedish procurement contract

Following the award in April of the contract for traffic safety cameras by the Swedish Transport Administration, Sensys Traffic has received a further procurement award decision from the Administration for new roadside cabinets for traffic safety cameras. The overall value of the contract cannot be currently quantified. UTI Group to implement road traffic management system in Romania

Craiova municipality, Romania, is to invest US$2.84 million to implement a traffic management system and ease congestion in the city. Romania’s UTI Group has been awarded the contract which is funded by the EU and comprises: a traffic control system; traffic enforcement; video monitoring; communications and traffic signs.
Further Latin American order for Sensys

Sensys Traffic has received a further order valued at around US$307,000 for speed and red-light enforcement to be delivered to a Latin American customer. Sensys has previously delivered enforcement systems to the same customer; this latest order follows one obtained earlier in May for a similar value. Delivery is expected to take place during the summer, and will be mainly taken from existing inventories.

A new survey from the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) finds that DC residents overwhelmingly support both red light and speed cameras. Although some residents expressed mixed opinions on the cameras, among those surveyed, 87 per cent support red light cameras and 76 per cent favour speed cameras. Among drivers, about 71 per cent support speed cameras, while 90 per cent of non-drivers support them, according to the survey. Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Gwen Crump cited statistic
