Officials in Luxembourg are planning to install fixed and mobile speed camera in a bid to improve the accident rate in tunnels and dangerous roads in the country, and to reduce the number of traffic fatalities. A feasibility study estimates the cost for the project at US$15 million. The total cost for the installation of 35 fixed cameras and five mobile devices is predicted to be US$1.6 million, together with US$13 million for a control centre. Officers working as part of the US Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CSVA) Operation Safe Driver pulled over 74,765 during the weeklong enforcement blitz in October, nearly three times the 2012 figure, the group said.
