The project will build upon the success of the company’s original development and deployment of a comprehensive road weather information system (RWIS) that has contributed to improved road safety throughout the Canadian Province for the last six years.

The UK’s Highways Agency (HA) has turned to international logistics specialist Norbert Dentressangle to handle, store and distribute variable message signs for the UK motorway network. Previously, the HA paid manufacturers to store its signs but, under the new arrangement, it will benefit from consolidating all the stock at Norbert Dentressangle’s Telford site. The company will also be responsible for the phased migration of product from manufacturer sites in Gatwick, Aylesbury and Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Graham Construction has won the contract, worth over US$21 million, to provide the state-of-the-art ITS for the new Forth Bridge replacement crossing in Scotland. Bob McDonnell, governor of the state of Virginia, has announced that, beginning 22 August, motorists will see travel times displayed on Interstate 66 electronic message signs between the Capital Beltway and Gainesville. The effort is part of the governor's efforts to address congestion on the I-66 corridor. The UK Highways Agency has reached agreement with TomTom to feed up-to-date traffic information from England’s motorways and major A roads into its sat nav services for road users. The agency, which manages the 7,000km strategic road network, collects data on traffic flows from road sensors, backed up by CCTV and other sources. This data, which is already provided to drivers through the Agency’s own channels, will be fed to TomTom for its High Definition Traffic Services.

Inrix announced today that it has completed the acquisition of ITIS Holdings, a UK-based traffic information company. The acquisition adds US$27 million in revenue and 155 employees to Inrix, and extends its reach to more than 200 leading customers in 30 countries around the world.
