Nokia Launches real time traffic service in Delhi and Mumbai
Nokia has expanded its location services portfolio in India with the availability of ‘Traffic feature’, a real time traffic service on Nokia smartphones. The service, available to users in Delhi and Mumbai, will be able to deliver comprehensive, real-time traffic information to more than 26 million people in two of the country’s busiest cities. TomTom's HD Traffic saves drivers up to 30% commute time, according to German study
According to independent research conducted by the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), products powered by TomTom’s HD Traffic reduce average drive times by 13 per cent and up to 30 per cent in congested areas. Xerox wins $14.5 million contract with Calgary Transit
Bus schedules in the Canadian city of Calgary will be more accurate and predictable as Xerox installs a new intelligent transportation system made up of computer-aided dispatch and vehicle location technologies. Co-operative traffic safety system developed in Finland
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Mobisoft Oy and the Finnish Meteorological Institute, with support from partners, have developed a communication system for drivers to inform them about weather and road conditions and prevent serious or fatal accidents. When there is snow or ice on the road, the risk of an accident is increased by a factor of 4.1 compared to normal conditions, according to research conducted at the Tampere University of Technology.

TomTom secures traffic deal with Qoros Auto in China
TomTom, via its joint venture partner AutoNavi Holdings, has announce a seven year agreement with Qoros Auto, an international automotive corporation. The partners will deliver HD Traffic, marking the first real time traffic customer for the newly expanded joint venture. In 2013 the first cars, aimed at young metropolitan users, will hit the streets in China equipped with HD Traffic, providing drivers with accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date traffic information available.
