Hop Fastpass offers fare payments in Portland-Vancouver area
Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District’s (TriMet’s) Hop Fastpass system by Init is now fully operational in the Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan area. TriMet, Portland Streetcar and public transit agency C-Tran passengers can use the virtual smart card within Google Pay to purchase their fares. The option to use Google Pay has been enabled through a collaboration between TriMet, Init and urban mobility company moovel. Sony releases USB3 industrial vision module
Sony Europe Imaging Sensing Solutions has launched its industrial vision global shutter complementary metal oxide semiconductor (GS CMOS) module using the USB3.0 transmission standard. Called XCU-CG160, the solution has a 1.6MP resolution and is said to transmit data at 100 frames per second. XCU-CG160 intends to create a migration path from charge-coupled device to GS CMOS without system upgrades or a changed architecture. AIT Mobility launches platform to make pedestrian crossings safer
Traffic safety researchers at the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and SLR Engineering have launched a tool that aims to evaluate the safety of pedestrian crossings and make them comparable as part of a research project. Derq picks up first grant from Michigan’s PlanetM
Dubai-based software company Derq is the first recipient of a grant under a new $1 million programme from Michigan state’s technology innovation facilitator PlanetM. Derq’s V2X software applications to predict and prevent accidents recently went live at a Detroit intersection, said Georges Aoude, chief executive and co-founder of Derq. “In addition to the grant, PlanetM has shown us that Michigan state is open for business,” he said. American Center for Mobility gets top ITSA award
The non-profit public-private partnership American Center for Mobility and the US-23 Flex Route project carried off the two top honours in the ITS America awards. “It’s an honour to get a top award from ITS America,” said Paul Algebra, university region engineer with the Michigan Department of Transportation (left) which is working with HNTB on the US-23 Flex Route. Gewi powers smart work zone warnings
