The problem of finding a parking space in the most important parking facility in the German city of Dillingen has been solved, thanks to a wireless parking sensor system developed by Dutch technology company Nedap. The car park, with both private and public spaces, is located in an inner courtyard and not visible from the main access road, resulting in visitors continuously searching for a free parking space.

Audi drivers are to get a little help in their search for a parking spot, thanks to the new Inrix Park service. The new offering, which is being rolled out to Audi Connect users, provides detailed analysis of the best off-street parking options at 34,000 parking garages and structures across Europe. Audi drivers who use the service can get turn-by-turn directions to the car park, as well as rates and hours. In some cases, the service will even show the number of available parking spots.

Siemens is to supply an intelligent transportation system for the Polish city of Poznan to integrate public and private transport in an effort to reduce congestion and enhance the attractiveness of public transportation. The contract, awarded by the Poznan transportation authority Zarząd Dróg Miejskich w Poznaniu (ZDM) is valued at around US$20 million. Commissioning of the system is scheduled for spring 2015.

Based on experience gained from its truck detection systems, Swiss company Tinynode has launched a wireless car parking detector, which can be used for off-street parking and is designed to be integrated with existing parking systems. Two models are available, the A4 which is screwed or glued on to the road surface, and the B4, which is embedded into the road surface. Both are easily installed and have a life of around ten years; batteries are easily replaced without disturbing the road surface.
