A major project by Siemens to upgrade over 160 traffic signal controllers across Tyne and Wear is set to go ahead following the award of Better Bus Area (BBA) funding from the Department for Transport to The Tyne and Wear Integrated Transport Authority, in the north east of England.

In one of the largest telematics projects for public transport ever deployed in Germany, Init, a provider of ITS and electronic fare management for public transport, will be the general contractor in a project for a joint tendering group led by Rheinbahn Düsseldorf. For this project, Init will set up a Tetra trunked system and install a new intermodal transport control system (ITCS) for the group over the next four years.

Telvent GIT has been selected by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDoT) to implement tolling systems through the Washington State Roadway Toll Systems Project. The project includes the implementation, maintenance and operation of three all-electronic tolling systems in the Puget Sound area: the SR-99 bored tunnel in Seattle scheduled to open in 2015, the new SR 520 floating bridge targeted to open in 2014, and the planned I-405 express toll lanes between Bellevue and Lynnwood.

Renault-Nissan Alliance will invest US$160 million in Korea to meet anticipated demand for the next-generation Nissan Rogue and to accelerate growth of Renault Samsung Motors. Production of Nissan Rogue crossover in Busan, Korea, will begin in 2014, with an annual capacity of about 80,000 units. The number of signalised junctions in Dubai has increased to 412, most of which are controlled by the Traffic Control System Centres of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).
