ITS Industry forum on connected vehicles
The US Department of Transportation (US DoT) is hosting a free public meeting and webinar, from 25-27 September, 2012, to provide an update on its research and promote a lively discussion on the Connected Vehicle Safety, Vehicle-to-Infrastructure, and Testing programmes. There will also be a special session discussing lessons learned in deploying ITS technology in the United States. GreenRoad wins first contract in mainland Europe
UK-headquartered GreenRoad which specialises in in driver performance and safety management, has won its first contract in mainland Europe. Securitas Mobile Belgium will be deploying the company’s system across 120 company cars to reduce accidents, cut insurance costs and lower fuel consumption.

Dubai RTA implementing integrated synchronisation for signalised junctions
The number of signalised junctions in Dubai has increased to 412, most of which are controlled by the Traffic Control System Centres of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA). According to engineer Maitha bin Udai, CEO of RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, the agency is currently working on an integrated project to synchronise and upgrade databases for 180 main signalised junctions. World first claimed for plugless power EV charging installations
Evatran has successfully completed the first three installations of its Plugless Power wireless electric vehicle (EV) charging technology with Apollo Launch partners The Hertz Corporation, Duke Energy, and the Clemson University International Centre for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR). It is claimed that these installations, on Nissan Leaf vehicles, represent the first passenger electric vehicles in the world with full wireless charging capability.

Schrader reaches TPMS milestone with 200 million sensors produced
Schrader, a leading global manufacturer of sensing and valve solutions, has announced the production of its 200 millionth direct tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor, which came off Schrader’s Antrim, Northern Ireland facility production line.

Vix in deployment of RTPI signs across London
Vix has announced the completion of a wide scale installation of new real time passenger information (RTPI) signs across London. The 1,250 signs deployed are a part of the Countdown project which delivers real time bus information for every one of the 19,000 bus stops and 700 routes in London.

GE researchers developing at-home refuelling station for NG vehicles

Uruguay plans to buy hundreds of electric buses from Chinese company
José Mujica, President of Uruguay, BYD, CTS and Buquebus officials have signed a contract to begin bringing electric buses into Uruguay. The BYD GreenCity buses that CTS and Buquebus are purchasing are able to run 250 km (155 miles) on a single charge in urban conditions, with an energy consumption of less than 130 kWh per 100 km. Indra USA to provide ITS transit solution to CAT in Georgia

Redflex Traffic Systems announces Redflex Guardian subsidiary
Redflex Traffic Systems in the US has announced it is expanding its student safety division with the acquisition of SmartBus Live. Since 2008, the SmartBus Live safety camera programme has helped school districts and municipalities monitor and deter drivers who illegally pass school buses while the stop arm is deployed.
