New York bus passengers get real time bus information
Bronx bus passengers will soon be able to avoid waits at bus stops and get bus-arrival information on their home computer, smartphone or mobile phone. With MTA Bus Time, passengers can access a map showing where buses are along a particular route. They can also request a text telling them where the nearest bus is on the route. Indonesia to introduce road pricing system
After a long wait for the green light from the central government, the much-anticipated electronic road pricing (ERP) system is expected to be implemented in Jakarta city in 2013, governor Joko Widodo has said. The ERP system is intended to discourage motorists from using private cars and opt for public transportation instead. Jenoptik wins speed enforcement contract in the Netherlands
Robot Nederland, part of Jenoptik's Traffic Solutions division, has recently been awarded a contract to deliver up to 225 mobile speed enforcement systems to police forces in the Netherlands. The contract is for Jenoptik’s Multanova MultaRadar CD mobile speed enforcement system. The system uses a radar sensor which Jenoptik says is capable of capturing high resolution images of offending vehicles regardless of time of day or weather conditions. E-tolling for South Africa’s Gauteng Freeway improvement project
Following a series of consultations with stakeholders, South Africa’s Inter-Ministerial Committee on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project (GFIP), led by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe, Cabinet, has recommended that the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral) should proceed with the implementation of an e-tolling system.

Heathrow set to trial electric vehicles
London’s Heathrow airport is to trial a fleet of electric vehicles, including the Nissan LEAF, Peugeot iOn, Vauxhall Ampera and the Renault Kangoo ZE, to test the viability of electric power-trains used in the highly demanding context of daily airport operations. A Memorandum of Understanding to establish a bilateral relationship and develop cooperation between ITS Australia and the Czech Republic Association of Transport Telematics (ITS&S) was signed in Vienna at the 2012 ITS World Congress. TomTom enhances HD Traffic for government and business
