Kansas, Oklahoma Turnpike authorities agree to interoperability
The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) has entered into an agreement with the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for the two systems’ electronic toll collection program to be interoperable by the end of 2014. Scheidt & Bachmann reveals parking portal
Scheidt & Bachmann has created an online parking portal for parking operators to offer to long-term, or contract, parking customers. The system allows customers to select one or more car parks and set up a contract for reservations. This can be on a permanent or Monday to Friday basis. Once a car park has been chosen, the user registers and is sent an RFID tag by the car park operator. Parking costs are deducted automatically from the customer’s account each month.

Citilog and Signal Group sign strategic alliance
France’s Citilog and Signal Group of the US yesterday signed a ‘strategic alliance’ to combine their technologies, with the aim of delivering advanced ITS video analytics solutions to the North American market. Citilog will combine its capabilities in video analytics with Signal Group’s expertise in traffic controllers, with the first product designed to reduce traffic waiting times at intersections through the integration of real-time queue length calculation into adaptive intersection control.

ITS Netherlands and Canada announce MoU
ITS Netherlands and ITS Canada signed an MoU at the show yesterday, aiming to learn from each other’s experiences in the sector. “Our relationship goes way back,” said the organisation’s president, Michael de Santis, “but we thought it was an opportune time here at Intertraffic to formalise this.”

Vitronic and Vetro ink strategic partnership
Speed and red light enforcement system provider Vitronic has entered into a strategic partnership with Vetro, a service-provider for traffic enforcement, it was announced at Intertraffic. The partnership will enable customers to buy Vitronic PoliScan systems bundled with Vetro services.

SolarBright’s studs send ice warning to drivers
A new smart road stud from New Zealand-based company SolarBright can warn drivers of potentially icy roads and will soon be able to alert traffic management centres and maintenance depots of the treacherous conditions. Once installed in the road the solar-powered studs monitor humidity and temperature and if the temperature drops to 4°C or below the blue LEDs in the stud start to flash to alert drivers of the possibility of ice formation.

Bartco and P&D launch joint venture deals at Intertraffic
Two new joint venture companies were introduced to the industry at Intertraffic yesterday. They were created by P&D Specialist Services and Bartco Traffic Equipment in an initiative aimed at tackling new international markets. The first joint venture company is Bartco UK which will be Europe’s first manufacturer of portable, solar-powered, five-colour matrix variable message signs, according to the firm.

Vendeka signs Philippines deal at Intertraffic
Vendeka underlined the robust health of the Turkish ITS industry when it signed a multi-million dollar deal with the San Miguel Corporation of the Philippines, at Intertraffic last night. The contract is to implement Vendeka’s Hybrid electronic toll collection (ETC) solution in three major highways in the Philippines. The scope of the project covers three tollways, 60 plazas, 300 lanes and 200,000 RFID tags.

US bus operator First Capital Connect has announced the launch of its new queue-reducing mobile ticketing app, allowing passengers to use their mobile phone or tablet as a ticket machine. Developed by Masabi, the app can be downloaded the app to the user’s phone, enabling them to instantly purchase peak and certain off-peak tickets for immediate use.
