Green wave for Reykjavik traffic
Siemens is supplying its satellite-based prioritisation system Sitraffic Stream (Simple Tracking Realtime Application for Managing traffic lights and passenger information) to the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik. Stalker photo enforcement system approved in Latvia
Stalker Traffic Technologies’ Phodar SE-1 photo traffic enforcement radar system has been awarded CE Marking and International Organisation of Legal Metrology certification and has been homologated in by the Latvian National Metrology Centre, qualifying the device to be quoted in any Latvian speed enforcement tender. City of Tampere opts for Transtech LRVs
The city of Tampere, Finland has selected Transtech, a subsidiary of Skoda Transportation, to supply and maintain the trams for its new tramline project. The contract includes 15-20 ForCity Smart Artic low floor light rail vehicles (LRVs) and maintenance for ten years, with an option for up to an additional 46 trams and extension of the maintenance contract up to 30 years. Contract value is between US$3.6 million (€3.2 million) and US$4.2 million (€3.8 million), depending on the final vehicle quantity.

Road to Zero coalition launched

Volvo Buses launches pedestrian detection
Volvo Buses has unveiled a pedestrian and cyclist detection system for buses, which it plans to introduce on its European city bus fleet in 2017. The pedestrian and cyclist detection system uses a camera to continuously monitor the bus’s vicinity.
