Vision conference ‘the most popular industry highlight’

Vision 2016, recently held in Stuttgart, recorded a 13 per cent increase in visitors, with almost 10,000 visitors from 58 countries during the three days, which its organisers say underscores its position as a leading trade fair for machine vision. This year’s major topics, embedded vision, hyperspectral imaging and 3D machine vision attracted many visitors.

International technology company Continental and the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford are now conducting joint research in the field of artificial intelligence in a partnership which will focus on the possible uses and development of artificial intelligence algorithms, which have the potential to further enhance future mobility applications. These deep-learning algorithms have the potential to deliver future visual object detection and human–machine dialogue.

ARTBA: voters want transportation investment

Hyperloop One to carry out feasibility study in Dubai

Hyperloop One (H1) is partnering with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to evaluate the feasibility of building the first commercial hyperloop transportation system from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. The journey is 99 miles (159.4 km) long and normally takes about two hours by car but H1 promises it would take a mere 12 minutes in the hyperloop.
Trafficware provides technology for connected vehicle demonstration

US traffic management specialist Trafficware is taking part in connected vehicle demonstrations of vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) applications in the Dallas area, Texas. The company’s ATMS.now transportation management system and connected vehicle module, currently installed in the City of Frisco, is streaming real time system and intersection data to connected vehicle techn0ology provider Traffic Technology Services (TTS) and automaker Audi.

Transdev Sweden upgrades timetable planning

German transportation specialist IVU Traffic Technologies is to supply its IVU.rail software to Transdev Sverige, the Swedish branch of global transport company Transdev, which will use the software to plan all rail franchises’ trains as of December 2016.
