Transport for London has announced plans to test new safety technology on London buses. Automatic braking and audible warning systems will be trialled alongside measures including new mirrors to improve the driver’s vision. All the new technology will receive a completely independent trial at the Transport Research Laboratory, whose engineers and technical specialists have been appointed to work with TfL, bus manufacturers and operators to trial a range of innovative safety measures.

After nearly two years of planning, design and testing, the Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is now recruiting volunteer drivers and pedestrians for the Tampa Connected Vehicle (CV) Pilot. Australia-based Aldridge Traffic Controllers (ATC) is to install its ATSC4 VC6 traffic signal controller in Dublin, Ireland, for the Luas Cross City Light Rail project. The new light rail system for Dublin City is the next phase of Dublin’s integrated light rail network and will pass through 25 SCATS-controlled junctions and 10 pedestrian crossings. It is the extension of the Luas Green line creating an interchange with the red line. There will be 13 new stops with 8 of these in the core city centre area.

Bombardier Transportation has been awarded two contracts for its Bombardier Innovia Monorail 300 system for two mass rapid transit lines in Bangkok.
