Conduent will deploy its Fare Collection System across the Lombardy region of northern Italy as part of a project that intends to enable transit agencies to offer seamless travel to passengers. Installation of the system is scheduled to start in the second half of 2018. Regional operator of passenger trains, Trenord and seven other transit agencies are involved in the project. Conduent will provide eight ticketing projects for metro, bus and suburban train services.

Autonomous vehicle (AV) ride-sharing services need to appeal to user motivations and overcome potential barriers or concerns, if they are to be successful, according to research conducted by Merge Greenwich. The US state of Georgia is to establish a regional transit governance and funding framework for metro Atlanta. A new entity, called the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority (ATL), will be created and charged with regional transit planning for 13 counties in metro Atlanta. An Alstom-led consortium has joined forces with Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec subsidiary DCPQ Infra to deliver an automatic and driverless light metro system for the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) project in Montreal, Canada. Alstom will introduce train and signalling solutions to help maximise system reliability, performance, capacity and passenger experience.
