Uber adds Delhi’s public transport information to app
Uber has launched its journey planning feature ‘Public Transport’ in New Delhi in a move which integrates its app with the Indian city’s metro and bus services. Uber says riders will be provided with the fastest and cheapest routes, and real-time schedules – including departure times for public transport and walking directions to and from metro stations and bus stops. Panasonic to launch autonomous cart ride-share in 2021
Panasonic is to launch a ride-sharing service of autonomous electric carts in Japan in 2021 for small towns and other ‘confined’ areas. A report by The Mainichi says the company is now using four carts to transport more than 14,000 employees around its headquarters in Osaka Prefecture ahead of the commercial launch. Gnewt to trial V2G tech to power EV fleet
A London-based parcel delivery service is to trial Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technology to help power 70 electric vehicles (EVs). Gnewt by Menzies Distribution intends to use V2G to explore the ability of EVs releasing energy back to the grid when not in use. NTSB: Uber’s AV in fatal crash ‘had software issues’
The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has found that an Uber autonomous vehicle which killed Elaine Herzberg last year had software flaws. NTSB released a report which says the Volvo XC60’s autonomous system software classified the pedestrian as an unknown object and determined that an emergency braking manoeuvre was needed to mitigate the collision.
