Dubai’s tolling call centre operations wins Smart Government Award
TransCore’s customer service centre operations of Dubai’s Salik Toll System took top honours for the country’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) at the recent Number One Government Expo. RTA was presented with the 2015 Hamdan bin Mohammed Award for Smart Government for Best Service Centre. Processing more than 1.7 million transactions each day, the Salik Call Centre competed with 28 other Dubai Government call centres. The award involved rigorous selection criteria that included 150 pages of scoring.

Q-Free to provide image review system for Florida toll upgrade

German transport minister clashed with EUI over road tolls

Hawaii DOT to assess feasibility of road usage charging
Expected declines in fuel tax revenue at the state and federal levels have motivated Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) to explore mileage-based user fees, or road usage charges (RUC) as a possible funding source to ensure the future provision of the safe and efficient roadways that the public relies on. Star Systems issues statement on Neology complaint
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) systems supplier Star Systems International (SSI), has issued a statement in relation to the recent complaint filed by RFID supplier Neology to the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) (see ITS International website). IBTTA names 2016 president
The International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) has elected Earl J. (Buddy) Croft III as its 2016 president. Varying acceptance of tolling in Africa
Tolling technology is now at an advanced state but governments have a key role in ensuring the success of schemes as is evident in Africa. Shem Oirere reports.
