A US$6 million rollout of new traffic signal technology is to be rolled out across Queensland, Australia, over the next four years to improve travel times for emergency services vehicles, allowing quicker response times to priority incidents across the state. Fourteen MEPs have signed a letter to EU Transport Commissioner Violeta Bulc demanding the European Commission propose legislation to impose new tolls on trucks, according to Euractiv. Kapsch has opened a branch office in London to represent its CarrierCom and TrafficCom businesses. The company is a technology supplier to Transport for London’s congestion charging scheme as well as providing Network Rail with GSM-R communications and digital radio communications for the Tyne and Wear Metro.
