App for transit managers and first responders
Apollo Video Technology has released the RoadRunner Mobile App for the iPhone and iPod Touch to allow transit officials to view live video feeds from buses, trains, police cars and transit facilities. "The RoadRunner Mobile Application is the first iPhone app aimed specifically at transit officials and first responders," said Rodell Notbohm, general manager of Apollo Video Technology.

AID board from Traficon
Traficon has announced its first automatic incident detection (AID) board for analysing images coming from network cameras. The new multi-functional Video Image Processor for traffic control (VIP-IP) has been developed to respond to the upcoming trend towards IP cameras, and is being launched at the same time as Flux, a new video detection management system.

Iteris has launched Pico, a compact video detection system that delivers superior vehicle detection in a small and economical package. Designed to address international video detection needs, the system includes a weather resistant camera sensor with a built-in vehicle detection processor and an interface controller that resides in the traffic cabinet. Designed for easy installation and configuration, Iteris says the device can be mounted at low heights with no need for special poles or mounting apparatus.

TagMaster reader and ID-tags
TagMaster has launched the XT series readers and ID-tags addressing the EPC Gen 2 specification designed for application areas such as parking, gated communities, and condominiums as well as people access. TagMaster is initially introducing the XT-2eu and XT-2us to its UHF series. The XT-2eu is designed to comply with the European regulations for ISO18000-6 type C, while the XT-2us is designed for the North American regulations, in terms of frequency range and output power.

Lenses from Fujinon
Fujinon has introduced two newly developed, 2/3" sensor size 5 Megapixel lenses for day/night applications: the HF35SR4A-1/SA1, with a focal length of f=35mm and F2, and the HF50SR4A-1/SA1, offering f=50mm and F2.8. Iris control can be either manual or automatic, by DC signal. Due to the combination of high resolution and IR correction, the company says these lenses are ideally suited for CCTV and security as well as for traffic applications, such as automatic number plate recognition.

A new camera range from Stemmer Imaging uses a sensor, based on solar cell technology, to allow imaging from scenes which simultaneously contain both very light and very dark areas. Swedish company ABC-CAD Elektronik has announced a new vehicle detector, the ABC043. The device, which has a built-in PIC processor for intelligent control, features automatic calibration with the attached loop. Sensitivity and trigger level can be adjusted in 10 different states. Smaller VL-Trailer tracking device
VeriLocation, a telematics company which currently tracks more than 10,000 devices and vehicles across the UK, Europe and the Middle East, has launched a new smaller trailer tracking device with a three-year battery life. The revised VL-Trailer uses GPS satellite tracking to fix its location anywhere in the world, and reports it once a day using mobile phone networks to send data.
