TwinSet and C.ticket from ASK
TwinSet, a contactless smart card that combines HF and UHF features on the same card, has been launched by ASK. The UHF chip is for fast track access, such as tolling or parking access control, while the HF chip is for compliance with the existing equipment for building access control and a contact chip when necessary for logical access control.

Tiny tag for AVI
Ascendent ID has released what it claims is the smallest long-range RFID tag available for vehicle access control at parking facilities, college campuses and gated communities. Measuring only about 50x25mm, the CompacTag 2032s is compatible with every model of the company's IDs readers; which have an adjustable read-range to enable the device to be read up to 10m.

German companies KSW Microtec and Melzer have announced a collaborative initiative to produce a multi-layer UHF label for customised applications in access control and asset tracking. Drawing on the flexible engineering of KSW's windshield inlays and powered by Melzer's new SL-600 processing machine for converting selfadhesive label stock and dry inlays to fully functional RFID tags, the partners claim the labels offer the best and consistent read range for all types of applications.

Skymeter wins Intertraffic Innovation Award
Canada-based Skymeter Corporation has won the overall 2010 Intertraffic Innovation Award. The company succeeded with its smart road-use device which it has designed to handle a wide range of automotive mobility-related payment needs, including road user charging, parking fees, insurance and carbon metering, as well as reward schemes to encourage differential driving times, carpooling or teleworking.

China orders 7.5 million ASK contactless paper tickets
