Kapsch to install GSM-R on trans-European train route

Slovakia’s state railway operator Železnice Slovenskej Republiky (ŽSR) has awarded a US$27.7 million contract for signalling and communications systems on the trans-European railway to Czech company AZD Praha, which will supply the ETCS (European Train Control System) Level L2 signaling system on the section of the route from Žilina via Čadca to the Czech-Slovakian border. Kapsch CarrierCom is to install GSM-R technology along the entire route from Bratislava to the Czech border.

An analysis of the 2013 National Bridge Inventory database released this month by the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) shows cars, trucks and school buses cross Illinois's 2,275 structurally compromised bridges 13,000,000 times every day. Peruvian capital Lima's urban transport authority GTU has launched the tender for group one of its bus corridor project. Group one is split into 26 different packets and includes 47 routes and 2,664 buses in the southern and centre-south zones of Lima, according to tender documents. Each concession is for the operation and maintenance of the route for a period of ten years.

The US City of Indianapolis has seen an increase in revenue as a result of selecting ParkIndy, a public-private partnership between the city and Xerox to modernise its coin-operated parking meters. The City has collected US$2.7 million more in parking meter revenue and reinvested more than US$12 million in infrastructure improvements, including sidewalk and road and bridge enhancements, since shifting parking meter operations to ParkIndy in 2010.
