New freight air quality initiative to reduce harmful emissions in London
The LoCITY programme has taken its first steps to improve air quality in London by publishing data to help increase the availability and uptake of low emission vans and lorries, following its initial four months’ research. USDOT offers free public workshops at ITS America 2016 San Jose
The US Department of Transportation (USDOT) is partnering with ITS America to host two free public workshops at ITS America 2016 San Jose in June. Vehicle to improve safety and reduce disruption on motorways
Inspired by the aviation industry, a new vehicle developed by Highways England to help replace overhead signs is set to reduce the duration of roadworks. The vehicle is based on the design of an aircraft catering vehicle, which loads refreshments into aeroplanes using a hydraulic scissor lift. Traditionally, signs are taken down and installed using a flat-bed truck, crane and cherry picker, taking up to 40 minutes. High capacity and low diesel prices further decrease transport price index
The twenty-seventh edition of the Transport Market Monitor (TMM) by Transporeon and Capgemini Consulting reveals that transport prices decreased by 6.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the fourth quarter of 2015; when compared to the first quarter of 2015, the price index decreased by 3.2 per cent. Santiago Metro to run on solar energy
Total and its affiliate, solar energy technology company SunPower have signed an agreement with the Metro of Santiago, Chile, for the supply of 300 gigawatt hours per year of clean solar energy.
