The 19th 6456 ITS World Congress will take place in Europe this year in beautiful Vienna, Austria and the preliminary programme is now available and registration is open.

With the motto ‘Smarter on the way’ the event will focus on the benefits of ITS for all users; ITS professionals, business leaders and public authorities will have the chance to experience  and discover hybrid and electric vehicles, autonomous cars, car-to-car and car-to-infrastructure communication. This year's Congress will be structured around  six main topics: optimising provision and use of infrastructure, traffic and travel data and information; intelligent infrastructure; continuity and interoperability of seamless multimodal services for mobility; integrated safety and security for all users; connected vehicles, infrastructure and users for cooperative mobility services; and sustainable, clean and energy efficient mobility.

The Congress is organised by Ertico - ITS Europe in close cooperation with the European Commission, ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific and will be hosted by the Austrian Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology, Austriatech and ITS Austria. The organisers expect a great deal of interest; about 10,000 delegates are expected to take Vienna over from 22 to 26 October 2012 for the event.
