Swarco electrifies car sharing

129 Swarco Traffic Systems is to install fifty Park²Power compact fast charging stations in South Baden, Germany, extending the region’s electric car charging infrastructure to 100 stations.

Payment is based on credit card and NFC technology and the charging points can be used by both customers of the region’s ‘my-e-car’ car sharing initiative and other electric car drivers. Each charging station provides two charging points powered by certified green energy from a local hydroelectric power plant.

The ‘my-e-car’ car sharing initiative was officially launched in Lörrach on 5 December and uses 40 2453 Renault ZOEs.

    Swarco Traffic Systems has installed a total of 172 solar-powered ParkLine evo² parking meters in the urban district Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg in Berlin, Germany.     Two car parks in Skåne, Sweden, are benefiting from a new parking system installed by Swarco, which uses automatic licence plate recognition (ALPR) to replace the previous payment system. SwappAccess enables users to register their vehicle details with the system’s web portal and pay in advance for parking via a credit card. The system automatically registers the licence plate of each vehicle arriving and departing the car park, which Swarco says results in a more efficient traffic flow.
