RATP is in starting blocks for 2024 Olympics

Flowbird will supply TVMs and Île-de-France Mobilités is creating multimodal plan

Paris: getting ready for Olympic and Paralympic Games

Flowbird is to supply new ticket vending machines (TVMs) to public transport operator RATP in the run-up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024.

State-owned RATP operates the greater Paris transport system, including metro, suburban RER rail services and trams, and buses.

Transport authority Île-de-France Mobilités is working with RATP and other transport operators to improve transport in the region ahead of the Games, creating a multimodal transport plan to meet Paris 2024's ambition for 100% of spectators to be able to get to competition venues by public transport.

For the Games RATP is deploying 100 new TVMs with LED colour touch screens and faster processing, Flowbird says.

The TVMs accept payments with coins, banknotes and Visa, Mastercard and Carte Bancaires credit and debit cards (PIN and contactless EMV).

The self-service kiosks will be at metro and tram stations to help meet demand on the network for the events.

They can also be used for issuing and reloading Navigo contactless smart cards and distributing magnetic tickets. 

Flowbird says it will manufacture at least 20 TVMs each month from its factory in Besançon, north-east France. 

In addition to supplying TVMs for RATP, the firm has been awarded a contract for hardware and software maintenance.
