Copenhagen turning parking spaces into EV recharging stations
The City of Copenhagen in Denmark has decided to support use of electric cars by earmarking up to 500 parking places, equipped with charging points, for EVs. The plan also includes reduced parking fees for the vehicles.

The City of Copenhagen in Denmark has decided to support use of electric cars by earmarking up to 500 parking places, equipped with charging points, for EVs. The plan also includes reduced parking fees for the vehicles.
Portland General Electric, Oregon’s largest utility, and NEC Corporation, a leading network, communications and information technology company, have opened North America’s first public-use, quick-charge station for electric vehicles.
Researchers at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, are developing new technology for in-road charging of electric vehicles (EVs). The project, which uses inductive power transfer technology, has recently received US$8.7 million ((NZ$12 million) government funding for the development of in-road pads which would charge EVs driving or parking over them.
Start-up Spark EV Technology has been chosen for the UK’s Intelligent Mobility (IM) Accelerator programme to further commercialise its artificial intelligence-based electric vehicle (EV) journey prediction software.
The IM Accelerator, a partnership between Transport Systems Catapult (TSC) and Wayra UK, supports six start-ups in delivering solutions to improve the UK transport system. Each programme lasts for six months and is based in the English town of Milton Keynes.
