New App alerts emergency services after a collision
Launched in time for the summer holiday season, Collision Call is a new app which automatically calls and alerts emergency services after a serious collision and sends an e-mail to family, work and friends, allowing them to take immediate action. The app measures G-forces which occur during a collision. Success of Slovakia’s ETC system
Slovakia’s complex electronic toll collection (ETC) system has seen steady growth since it opened in 2010; toll collection in 2013 totalled US$161 million, while in 2014 US$200 million of told were collected. Alstom and Huawei complete first LTE 4G pilot for metros
Alstom and Huawei have successfully completed a pilot project to develop a Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4G multi-service broadband radio networking technology for metros. The project was launched in the frame of a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2014, under which Huawei supplied the LTE network and Alstom which provided the train set and onboard signalling equipment. Here to lead vehicle hazard warning pilot in Finland
Mapping and navigation specialist Here has been selected by Finnish traffic agencies Finnish Transport Agency (FTA) and Trafi, the Finnish Transport Safety Agency to lead a pilot project to enable vehicles to communicate safety hazards to others on the road. Here will also work with traffic information management service company Infotripla in implementing the project, which will be the first to implement a road hazard warning messaging system as described in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

City of Cardiff trials smart parking
UK company Smart Parking Technology has begun the installation of 225 RFID-equipped SmartEye vehicle detection sensors, linked via SmartLink data transmitters, in some of Cardiff’s central parking hotspots. City of Sugar Land to implement wireless detection system
The City of Sugar Land, Texas, a growing suburb of Houston, has opted to use Trafficware’s state-of-the-art pod wireless detection system to implement detection upgrades along the city’s busiest roadways on US 90A and SH 6.
