T3 Motion, a producer of clean/green technology, has received a 200-piece order from A&M Garments in Kuwait for the company’s Motiontrak 300P digital in-car video data recording system. Each Motiontrak 300P will be deployed with patrol fleets, tracking logistical information and providing video documentation of the environment surrounding the vehicle.

ALK Technologies has entered into a partnership with International Telematics Corporation to resell ALK’s CoPilot truck professional navigation software in North America, fully integrated with its ibright vehicle and trailer telematics system. Navteq has been selected by Ford Motor Company to be its exclusive map supplier for the Sync MyFord Touch. The agreement positions Navteq as the map data provider for the Sync with MyFord Touch SD-card based navigation system in Europe, Russia, Middle East, North America and South America.

TSS-Transport Simulation Systems, the developer of Aimsun and Aimsun Online traffic simulation software, is to open a new office in Sydney, Australia. Verizon Wireless and In Motion Technology have announced what they claim is the first wireless mobile router system available for securely extending the enterprise network to the vehicle over the world’s largest 4G LTE network. The In Motion Technology onBoard system includes a mobile gateway that transforms vehicles into secure, mobile hotspots; a network management system that monitors network health and communications; and a mobile-optimised VPN server providing end-to-end security.

According to a new research report from the analyst firm Berg Insight, global shipments of personal navigation devices (PNDs) declined to about 33 million units in 2011, while the number of subscribers using a turn-by-turn navigation app or service on their handset doubled in 2011 and reached 130 million worldwide. The subscriber base is forecasted to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.9 per cent to reach 340 million users worldwide in 2016.
