1731 BMW and 2069 Daimler are investing €1 billion to cooperate on developing their mobility offerings in car-sharing, ride-hailing, parking, charging and multimodal transport.

Harald Krüger, chairman of BMW, says: “These five services will merge ever more closely to form a single mobility service portfolio with an all-electric, self-driving fleet of vehicles that charge and park autonomously and interconnect with the other modes of transport.”

The partnership will combine existing services to form five joint ventures:

•    Reach Now, a multimodal app which allows users to book and pay for public transport and car-sharing, ride-hailing and bike rentals. Daniela Gerd tom Markotten will manage it as chief executive officer, with Johannes Prantl as chief financial officer

•    Charge Now, an electric vehicle charging service by BMW subsidiary Digital Charging Solutions, which allows drivers to view charging stations on the BMW I Remote app. New stations are added to the app, the BMW Navigation System and website as soon as they are available.

•    Park Now, a digital parking service which enables drivers to reserve parking slots and manage parking times as well as make cashless payments of parking fees.

•    Free Now offers a range of mobility services including taxis, private hire chauffeurs with rental vehicles and electric scooters. It is headed by Marc Berg as CEO, with Sebastian Hofelich as chief finance officer (CFO).

•    Share Now, a free-floating car-sharing service in which drivers can rent and pay for vehicles via a smartphone. Olivier Reppert has been appointed CEO of Share Now, with Stefan Glebke as CFO.

BMW says these services are now available for cities and municipalities seeking to make their traffic more efficient and sustainable.
