TRL upgrades Transyt 15 software

TRL has upgraded its Transyt software used in designing, modelling and optimising road layouts from individual isolated junctions to large and complex networks. Version 15.0.1 can now lock a stage on one controller to a stage on another, which is useful for modelling linked controller streams. 491 TRL has upgraded its Transyt software used in designing, modelling and optimising road layouts from individual isolated junctions to large and complex networks.

Version 15.0.1 can now lock a stage on one controller to a stage on another, which is useful for modelling linked controller streams. To cater for circulating traffic streams, the upgraded software now also has roundabout priority object.

This new version can link to both Aimsun 7 and Aimsun 8 in both both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This enables the import and control of any combination of fixed time controllers, irrespective of the cycle time they are running allowing Transyt to cater for multiple cycle times.

UK-based research establishment TRL has launched a blind spot simulator rig which uses virtual reality to improve truck cab design, road layouts and improve the safety of road users and reduce costs for designers. The precision of the system is based on a physical rig developed by TRL and Volvo. It ensures an accurate representation of direct vision from a real-life Volvo vehicle cab which allows seat, steering and wheel adjustments to be replicated for each driver.

The new release of PTV’s transport planning software, PTV Visum 15, is said to set new standards in multimodality and allow even more sustainable transport planning. New functions available in the software include the ability to analyse the demand, quantity and placement of park and ride (P+R) sites, enabling users to evaluate existing and future capacities. To allow users to model cycle and vehicle route-planning, PTV has enhanced the stochastic assignment so that path-level impedance elements can now be r

    April 9, 2014
A new generation of ITS equipment is helping road authorities get to grips with cycle safety – and not a moment too soon as Colin Sowman discovers. Cyclists - remember them? Apparently not. At least not according to the OECD 2013 report Cycling, Health and Safety which contains the statement: ‘Cyclists are often forgotten in the design of the road traffic system’. Looking through the statistics that exist (each country appears to compile them differently) it is not difficult to see how such a conclusion cou
