Count On Us to merge with Sky High
UK-headquartered Clearview Traffic Group has announced the proposed merger of its Count On Us traffic survey and market research arm with Sky High, which will also see Clearview taking a significant equity stake in Sky High, with representation on the board of the merged company. Sky High is involved in the capture and analysis of traffic and transport data using video, automatic, manual and market research techniques.

OmniVision's automotive image sensors win AEC-Q100 qualification
OmniVision Technologies, a developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, has announced that its flagship automotive image sensors, the OV10630 and the OV10635, have both received AEC-Q100 Grade 2 qualifications, meeting the high standards of quality and performance for automotive applications. Apollo Video helps Marta enhance transit security
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has selected the RoadRunner on-board video surveillance system and vehicle information management (VIM) software from Apollo Video Technology for its fleet of approximately 1,000 transit buses, trains and mobility vans. The surveillance system is designed to enhance safety and security for Marta riders and employees by deterring criminal activity and serving as an investigative tool for the system’s police force.

UK looking at using ANPR to stop uninsured drivers from refuelling
The Times has reported that the UK government is drawing up plans to prevent drivers of untaxed or uninsured vehicles from filling up with fuel at petrol stations. The plans would use the existing network of automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras. The cameras are used to record vehicles details of motorists who do not pay for fuel. Pumps at most large forecourts will not start working until an image of the vehicle's numberplate has been captured and logged by an ANPR camera.

Indra to help improve public transport management in Wroclaw, Poland
Indra, Spain’s leading IT multinational, has been awarded a contract with the Public Transportation Municipal Company in Wroclaw, which is the fourth largest city in Poland, to install its intelligent public transportation management technology for US$22.23 million and a one year execution period. Mobile retroreflectometer upgrade
Delta has unveiled two important new features for the company’s LTL-M mobile retroreflectometer – an overhead camera and distance measurement instrument (DMI) – to further accommodate customer requirements. The overhead camera is placed in the vehicle windscreen, providing a complete HD video of the markings and the road as seen by the driver.
